Sue Brown - 2010 Volunteer of the Year

Sue Brown of Basking Ridge coordinates and leads the annual mission trip to Honduras for Hearts For Honduras, an organization that helps families in need in La Entrada, Honduras. She has been affiliated with the Liberty Corner Church since 1991 and with helping on the Honduras team since 2000. Brown also was part of the PTO of Liberty Corner and Mt. Prospect Schools and helped the Boy Scouts from 2000 to 2004 and Girl Scouts from 1995 to 1998.

Her best volunteering experience is when she returns to La Entrada each year to see the changes the “school has made in the lives of the children and their families.” The school, which was built by Hearts For Honduras, provides not only education but also medical and spiritual needs. Sue feels "when it comes to volunteering, “money” is good but it is much more satisfying to get involved and meet and work with those you are helping. You get a much different perspective on things that way.” She has lived in the area all of her life and has a husband, Jim, and two children, Kristin, 23 and Jay, 20.
